Like many of the best Russian Matryoshka artists, Irina Provada is a graduate of Abramtsevo Art School. She lives in Sergiev Posad near the famous Holy Trinity Lavra. She has three children and her husband makes wooden frames for iconostases and church furniture in a monastery's workshop. Irina's main interest is also church art. She is an excellent embroidery artist and her embroidered icons, replicated from antique examples, are high appreciated. But she is also a skilled creator of charming nesting dolls. Her style is original and easy to recognize, her dolls are full of poetry and humour. Irina creates only a few dolls each year and so her exclusive pieces are highly prized by collectors.
