Yana is the daughter of well-known Russian book illustrator Valery Buharev and it's possible to see her father's influence in her art. She is a woman of outstanding beauty and at 27 a very young Matryoshka artist; she decided to leave Moscow and live far from all cities in her village home near Novgorod, planting her garden and bringing up her children. She is very religious and says that art should only bring kindness and hope to all the people; she thinks it must clear people's souls. She has four children and her husband is an icon-painter. Her dolls are very gentle and kind - usually she draws children from fairy tales, seldom religious subjects. She recently returned to painting this Spring and her works now attract the admiration of collectors.
